Global connections
International Stoic Communities
A living tradition practised across the world, and the connections that link Aotearoa New Zealand to it.
Stoicism is a living tradition, practised and studied by people all over the world. At the New Zealand Stoic Society, we believe in connecting local practitioners with the broader global Stoic community.
Below we highlight organisations, events and resources from around the world that we value and recommend. Whether you are looking for online courses, daily reflections, international events or networks of like-minded practitioners, these connections offer ways to deepen your understanding and practice of Stoicism, while linking Aotearoa New Zealand to the global community. By fostering them, we aim to support our members, provide access to high-quality resources, and help build a worldwide community of Stoics committed to living with virtue, resilience and wisdom.
Modern Stoicism
Events and gatherings
An annual, free, week-long online event inviting participants to live like a Stoic and explore Stoic practices for wellbeing. An excellent starting point for newcomers and a valuable reset for experienced practitioners seeking a structured, evidence-informed experience.
The flagship international conference on modern Stoicism, bringing together philosophers, psychologists, scholars and practitioners from around the world for talks, panels and workshops on Stoic philosophy and its relevance to modern life.
Local or independently organised Stoic conferences held around the world, often connected to Stoicon and Stoic Week. These offer smaller communities, like ours in Aotearoa, the chance to gather, share ideas and explore Stoicism in a more intimate setting.
